ASML Gears Up for Production Ramp-Up Amidst Global Chip Demand

Chip Toolmaking Giant Sets Sights on Increased Output

VELDHOVEN, Netherlands (Reuters) - Feb 9 - ASML Holding NV (ASMLAS), a leading manufacturer of chip-making equipment, has announced plans to ramp up production to meet soaring global demand for semiconductors.

In a statement released on Friday, ASML's CEO Peter Wennink said, "We are seeing strong demand for our products across all customer segments, driven by the continued growth of digitalization and the increasing adoption of advanced technologies."

ASML's Veldhoven plant, where the company produces its advanced lithography machines, is poised to play a crucial role in meeting this demand. The company expects to increase production capacity at the facility by approximately 25% in 2023, bringing it to a total of 400 lithography systems produced annually.

The increased production will bolster ASML's position as a key supplier to the semiconductor industry. The company's lithography machines are essential for the production of advanced chips, which are used in a wide range of electronic devices, including smartphones, computers, and automobiles.

Analysts say that ASML's ramp-up in production will help alleviate supply chain disruptions that have plagued the semiconductor industry in recent years. "ASML's decision to boost output is a positive sign for the chip market," said analyst Jim Handy of Objective Analysis. "It indicates that demand is strong and that the industry is expecting continued growth in the coming years."

ASML's stock price has risen steadily in recent months, reflecting investor optimism about the company's prospects. The company's shares closed nearly 10 points higher on Jan. 24, reaching a new all-time high.
