The Cleveland Cavaliers will host the Orlando Magic in Game 1 of the 2024 NBA playoffs on Saturday afternoon. The Cavs and Magic split their 2023-24 regular-season series, each winning two games at home. Cleveland won the season series opener 121-108 on October 19th, while Orlando won the rematch 114-100 on December 13th. The Cavs also won the most recent meeting between the two teams, a 111-95 victory on March 11th.
The Cavs are the No. 4 seed in the Eastern Conference, while the Magic are the No. 5 seed. Cleveland finished the regular season with a 49-33 record, while Orlando finished with a 40-42 record.
The Cavs are led by All-Star guard Donovan Mitchell, who averaged 27.3 points per game during the regular season. Cleveland also has a strong supporting cast, including Darius Garland, Jarrett Allen, and Evan Mobley.
The Magic are led by Paolo Banchero, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2022 NBA draft. Banchero averaged 20.0 points per game during the regular season. Orlando also has a number of other talented young players, including Franz Wagner, Jalen Suggs, and Wendell Carter Jr.
The Cavs are favored to win Game 1 of the series, but the Magic are a dangerous team and could certainly pull off an upset. The game will be played at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse in Cleveland, Ohio, and is scheduled to tip off at 3:30 p.m. ET.
